What would an Ethical Egoist say about euthanasia?

Euthanasia, or “mercy killing,” is the act of deliberately ending one’s own life or allowing another person to do it on their behalf. Ethical egoism is a moral theory which states that an action is only right if it maximizes happiness and/or pleasure for oneself. Therefore, an ethical egoist would likely say that euthanasia can be morally permissible in certain situations where it yields the greatest amount of satisfaction for the person who decides to end their life.
