This paper presents evidence on income inequality and unequal access to education among Indian districts by utilizing data collected through an original survey conducted by the authors across 600 villages in India during 2006-2007. Their findings suggest that income inequality is far greater within district boundaries than between them when comparing households providing services such as health care and education revealing a stark difference between living standards between urban centers versus rural areas based on educational attainment levels indicating unequal access entry points into opportunity structures due primarily poverty levels related differences in individual’s ability to access resources like education needed for upward mobility over time periods considered during this study period despite increases in economic development overall within India itself since then..
