The first step in implementing a successful telehealth program is to assess whether we have the necessary technology infrastructure to support this type of service. It is important to consider factors such as bandwidth capacity, technical requirements for video conferencing software, security measures for data transmissions; and any training needs for staff who will be providing these services (Jonas et al., 2017). Once we have determined that our technological capabilities are sufficient then we can move on to examining any existing policies related to telemedicine use. This would include reviewing medical practice regulations from local authorities as well as identifying any potential liabilities associated with providing online video consultations (Hagell & Löfgren-Branzell 2020).
