Describe the evolution of the field of industrial/organizational psychology.

Industrial/Organizational psychology is an area of psychology that studies the behavior of people within organizations, such as businesses and other groups. It is also known as work psychology or occupational psychology and has roots in both industrial engineering and human resource management. The field has evolved over time to become a multi-faceted discipline with the goal of understanding how people interact with their environment and how those interactions can be improved for organizational success (Mathieu & Zajac, 1990).
