Medical malpractice is a type of professional negligence where a healthcare provider deviates from accepted standards, causing injury to their patient (Maginnis, 2019). Professional negligence can take many forms, such as failure to diagnose an illness correctly or misdiagnosing a condition. In some cases, medical malpractice is due to the lack of information given to the patient about his/her treatment options. In other cases, it occurs when the doctor fails to properly treat an injury or disease in spite of clear evidence that it should have been done differently.
