Analyze the feedback mechanisms that maintain homeostasis, and what happens when these systems do not function appropriately.

Homeostasis is the ability of an organism to maintain a relatively constant internal environment, despite changes in external conditions. This capacity for stability is made possible by feedback mechanisms, which are communication pathways between components of a system that allow it to monitor and control itself accordingly. These feedback systems exist in both biological and non-biological contexts, regulating everything from temperature to economic activity (Kolstad & Wiig, 2019). In this essay, I will explore how they function at the cellular level and discuss what happens when these systems fail.
